Guess what! The snow is melting, finally! Who would have thought! Normally we wouldn’t mind at all, ‘cauz you know Lapland = snow, but in this case we have a fence to build and this is essential to put our minds at ease. Our puppies have begun to explore more and more wandering around the woods and although we do live remote, cars happen to come by from time to time. Well, the building has begun, 3 weeks later than planned (our plan was to immediately start building one day after our move here) but patience is our best friend! A fence, that will stretch far into our woods. Most important for us is to spend a great deal of time with our dogs, so naturally the fence has to be as close to our house as possible. We are planning to divide the fence into a few parcels, so that we are not only able to separate our dogs, if necessary – but also to have room for abandoned dogs some time in the future. Let’s see what is born out of our Safe Haven madness here in the woods, where no one hears us screaming.
Well, see for yourself. First pictures. This is the first parcel directly connected to our house, and this is where we all will eat our breakfast – means carrots for the dogs and coffee for the humans around a little fireplace. As you can see there is still some snowy snow craziness going on. Our tools are a handsew, a hammer, an axe, two auger drills (manual ones) and it actually is a lot of fun to get through the rock layer, but we’ll manage somehow like we always do.
